The Religion of Aquamara

After Empress Koyuki fled the Agiyan continent, she sailed east and arrived on a mostly unknown land to the Agiyan people. There, she conquered native tribes of Dragonborn and Ambystoma, eventually uniting the Naiyaran continent under her rule. Out of this conquest, she founded a new religion, Aquamara, which would become essential to her future goals of domination and expansion.

Core Beliefs:

• The Ocean as Sacred: Followers of Aquamara believe that the ocean is the ultimate source of life, wisdom, and power. It is viewed as the pathway to new lands, knowledge, and salvation. The depths of the sea are thought to hold the secrets of both the past and the future, and Koyuki’s mastery of the oceans is seen as divinely inspired.
• Rebirth through the Sea: Death in Aquamara is seen not as an end, but as a transformation. Those who die at sea, particularly in naval combat, are considered blessed by the gods and destined for rebirth within the ocean’s waters. Warriors who fall in conquest on land are also honored, though those who perish at sea hold a special place in the afterlife, believed to be reborn as sacred creatures of the ocean.
• Divine Conquest: The religion teaches that domination over both the seas and lands is a sacred mission. Conquest is not just for power, but to fulfill the will of the gods, who demand that their followers expand their influence across all waters and lands. Koyuki's returning forces, shaped by years of conquest, are devout believers in this divine mandate, making their armies fiercely loyal and spiritually motivated.

Gods and Deities:

• Samri - Dragon God of the Seas: Samri is the ruler of the ocean depths, and commands storms, tides, and all the creatures of the sea. Aquamaran people believed that he blessed Koyuki with the knowledge to sail and conquer.
• Ayuttha - Goddess of the Stars: Ayuttha is interpreted as the Goddess of the Stars guiding sailors through the oceans at night.
• Lakornaya - God of the Night: Lakornaya governs the cycles of the moon, and is a more minor deity in the religion.

Sacred Items:

The Scroll of Tides: This is the main religious text, said to have been written by Koyuki herself after being visited by the gods of the ocean during her time of conquest. It describes the principles, gods, and mission for the Aquamaran people.

The Kagayaki: The Sword of the Suns, wielded by Koyuki Akaimo. It's believed that Samri, God of the Seas, gifted the weapon upon her to spread the influence of the Aquamara across land and sea alike.
